Collation
A collation is a set of rules for comparing (esp. sorting) characters in a character set or database. In this context "ci" stands for "case-insensitive", and "cs" stands for "case-sensitive".
- collation-charts.org. "The goal of this project is to provide information about how various pieces of software (e.g. operating systems, DBMS and others) sort textual data, in the form of easy-to-read charts." Compare latin1_swedish_ci (the MySQL default collation) against latin1_general_ci.
